How to Apply for First Time Taiwan Tourist Visa in the Philippines

Hello travel bugs! I can see that a lot of visitors are checking my first-time China Visa application page lately so I thought giving you tips on your first time Taiwan Visa would be cool, too.

Yes, I will be flying off to Taipei for my birthday this year and, thank God, I just got my visa yesterday (I applied ahead of my parents since they coursed it through the travel agency).

So, yes, you don’t have to personally apply for your Taiwan visa, but for the sake of experiencing it myself, I decided to personally apply for mine. πŸ™‚

The documents needed in applying for a Taiwan Visa is easier than China’s. For first timers like me, here are the documents that I have submitted:

  • A completed and printed out Visa Application Form
  • Two (2) passport size photos 1.5”x2” with white background. One is glued on the form and the other is in zip lock, stapled on the form.
  • Passport valid for at least six months and old passport showing previous travels
  • Birth Certificate issued by NSO and a photocopy of it
  • Financial statements of the applicant (Bank Book or Bank Statements)

Since I’m a freelance marketing practitioner and I can’t produce a Certificate of Employment, I submitted below documents as well:

  • latest ITR
  • Bank certificate with at least 100k-150k balance declared
  • confirmed airline tickets
  • confirmed hotel bookings

Basically you just have to provide all the necessary documents that can say that you are financially capable of your travel in Taiwan. After securing all the documents, head on to the Taiwan Embassy (41F, Tower 1, RCBC Plaza, 6819 Ayala Avenue, Makati). Filing time is at 8:45am – 11:45am. They process pretty fast so you don’t have to worry. I came in around 11am and I was able to submit my documents in 30mins tops.

Regular processing time is 3 working days. If you want it processed immediately, you can pay an additional Php1,050.00 1WD expedite for single entry visa and Php2,100.00 1WD expedite for multiple entry visa. Here are the visa fees for Filipino passport holders, depending on number of entries:

  • Single-entry Visa: Php. 2,100.00
  • Multiple-entry Visa: Php. 4,200.00

Payment is upon submission of application. Releasing time of the visa is 1:45pm to 4:45pm. You will use the receipt when claiming your visa, to which the claiming date is indicated on it as well.

I came in around 2pm to claim my visa. I would suggest to come in as early as you can for claiming. Although Taiwan Embassy processes their releasing relatively fast, it pays to be early. Anyway, so here’s mine. πŸ™‚

Hi. Thank you for the very detailed information. I am scheduled to submit requirements to travel agency. I coursed porcessing visa application thru them. We are booked to travel as a family on December 18. My question would be, My mom and dad are travelling with me and I will be financially supporting their trip. They are 77 years old already but we travel yearly for the last 7yrs. What could be their requirements for the application. NSO sent me negative result for their birth certificate since they were born 1938 and those born this year were not listed already at NSO. how old are your parents? What are their requirements?Thank you

    • CouchWasabi says:

My parents processed their own visas through a travel agent, they’re both in their 50s, while I processed my visa personally. If you guys travel yearly, I think there wouldn’t be a problem since I’d assume you’d have numerous stamps on you and your parents’ passports. My parents travel more than I do so they were in a better position to have a visa than I do. So the immigration officer suggested for me to apply mine together with my parents. I was just stubborn to do it my way. hehe. As regards to the birth certificate, I would recommend for you to request a certified true copy from NSO. I believe they do that in case your parents’ are still not in their database.

Hi. Thank you so much for the very prompt reply. Hopefully we do not encounter any issues on the visa issuance πŸ™‚ Thanks again!

Nag apply ako ng tourist visa last wed. Mga documens na pinasa ko ay passport, picture, nso birth, coe, letter of permission to leave from employer, bank cert , OR/CR of my car and motorbike, confirmed hotel booking cert, itenerary receipt, and id sa work pati letter from my german bf na kasama ko sya sa pagpunta ng taiwan.

Kinuha lang ay passport, nso, picture, bank cert ,letter from my bf,id at letter of permission to leave from my employer. Thank you

    • mikuchin says:

30k is fine as long as you have a stable job in the country. When I applied for an AUS visa, I only have less than 25k declared in my bank certificate yet I was given 3 mos stay with an option to extend.

Hello! Just 2 simple-complicated question about bank certificate or bank accounts. Mine is just this visa and plane ticket. Hoping the best answers asap bcos I really miss my girlfriend kaya gusto ko sya pasyalan. Thanks.

    • Hong Mae Rin says:

less than 100k is ok just as long as you deposit money into your account regularly, not just one big deposit. just prove your strong economic ties with the philippines and you’ll be fine. i had less than 30k in my account but i got approved for a Taiwan visa. anyway right now there is a Taiwan evisa application where you dont need to pass any requirements but you have to use a credit card for payment instead

Hi. Am scheduled to travel for Taiwan last week of Sept to celebrate my daughter’s 12th bday. I was hoping to get exemption for 5 of us in the family (me, hubby and 3 kids). While I have current multiple visa in Japan and have traveled extensively before, visas of my other family members in exempt countries were only single entries (australia, japan, korea). Is that still valid? Can i apply online for my kids too? Thanks!

    • Hong Mae Rin says:

just apply for a Travel Certificate online and print it out, no need to go to TECO.. because you already have visas issued by Japan, Australia and Korea

  18. Moon says:

Thanks

  31. Grace says:

Hi! Plan namin magbabarkada sana gumala sa taiwan after graduation in April. Malaki po ba chance na madeny since wala pa naman kami work? Or pwede naman po kami magsubmit bank accounts ng parents since sila naman talaga gagastos for the trip? Thanks!

    Hi Mam,

    I have question po.

    1. Kakaresign ko lang kasi sa work ko and nag rerender na lang ako ng 30days. Last day ko is sa Dec 30. Ang flight ko to Taiwan is sa January 26 pa next year. Though I don’t have any plans yet on working again sa office environment kaya no work talaga ko up to that date.

    2. I have roundtrip tickets na.

Is there a way for me to process the application without having to go to Makati?
I’ve been travelling to other visa-free Asian countries for 3 years now, so this is my first time to apply for a visa.

Hello. I stopped working since february for review for our licensure exam and just recently I passed. I resigned and now unemployed. Will be taking a break for a month maybe. Is it still possible to get my visa application approved despite my situation of having no COE, and only 50K in my bank account? or is it still possible that I submit an Affidavit of Support from my mom who is working at PLDT for 30+ years now? btw i’m not a minor anymore (i’m 23).
moreover. this trip is going to be my reward from my parents for graduating with honors and passing the licensure exam. would a letter stating this sponsorship be okay?
    thanks
