I love Ebiko Gunkan. Sadly, you don’t see this often in the menu of most Japanese restaurants here in the Philippines. So whenever I see it available, I make sure to order some.
My guy and I decided to go to Metrowalk for dinner early this week and since Japanese is my default preference, we went to try Kyotowako.
I wasn’t happy with my California Maki fused with kimbob the last time I ate dinner in a Japanese restaurant so I thought of trying something else–Philadelphia Maki (Php235.00).
I love that their wasabi gives a kick that makes your nose go on fire. It was a little too much, though, for my Philadelphia maki—which, I realized, had too small of a Philadelphia cream cheese for this serving. But it filled my maki craving for the moment.
Their Green Fried Chicken (Php315.00) was so-so either. If it looks bad on my photo, it’s not that enjoyable to the palate, too. Or maybe it’s just me, I dunno. Basically, these are Japanese herbed chicken poppers for pulutan.
I did, however, enjoy the unlimited anchovy appetizer. And, of course, the yummy Ebiko Gunkan (Php160.00) that made all the other mediocre dishes forgettable.
