STOP ANIMAL CRUELTY–especially to strays!

From time to time, I read stories of cats and other stray animals being abused. Today, I would like to share with you the story of this cat who was brutally hurt by humans:

Weng Suzara: I am posting this on behalf of Kate Dioneda-Santos: This cat was posted here a few weeks ago. The rescue was quite difficult because the cat was not trusting humans. Through the help of some CCP members the cat is now at home with Kate . She brought the cat to the vet and assessment is that the injury is human inflicted most likely by burning the leg. The vet advised amputation which the vet clinic is not equipped to perform. Kate is transferring the cat to MACE clinic, however, she can’t even put the cat in a carrier as it would hiss and bite. She tried all possible ways to catch it but she admits that she is inexperienced and do not know what to do anymore. Kate is asking if someone can please help her handle the cat and put in a carrier so she can transport the cat to MACE.

I am baffled by this story as I can never understand how someone can do these things to animals–especially if they are strays or puspins and aspins. I am sheltering two domestic cats now, and in my experience, they are just as loving as my breeded pets. I don’t think people should hurt these animals just because they are breedless.

It is heartbreaking to know that this cat has become untrusting to humans and you can’t blame this poor kitty. 😦 Everyday, whenever I watch Pepper and Yoona, I realize that the only language understood by animals is love. And when you show them love, they will give it back threefold.

I would like to urge you guys to stay vigilant and make your smartphones more useful. If you have witnessed any case of animal abuse in your neighborhood, please take a quick snapshot and report them through PAWS and CARA. Under Republic Act 10631, the violators are punishable by:

β€œ(1) Imprisonment of one (1) year and six (6) months and one (1) day to two (2) years and/or a fine not exceeding One hundred thousand pesos (P100,000.00) if the animal subjected to cruelty, maltreatment or neglect dies;

β€œ(2) Imprisonment of one (1) year and one (1) day to one (1) year and six (6) months and/or a fine not exceeding Fifty thousand pesos (P50,000.00) if the animal subjected to cruelty, maltreatment or neglect survives but is severely injured with loss of its natural faculty to survive on its own and needing human intervention to sustain its life; and

β€œ(3) Imprisonment of six (6) months to one (1) year and/or a fine not exceeding Thirty thousand pesos (P30,000.00) for subjecting any animal to cruelty, maltreatment or neglect but without causing its death or incapacitating it to survive on its own.
